Thank you for considering Renaissance School. An overview of the admissions process is described below. Should you have any questions, please call 434.984.1952.

ADMISSIONS PROCESS:

  • Classroom visits and/or tours are optional but recommended.  Call the School at 434.984.1952.
  • Download the application from this website (see “Application” on Admissions menu above) or obtain it from information packet.
  • Send or deliver application materials along with non-refundable application fee of $50.
  • Application materials include:

• Parent Questionnaire
• Family Information
• Applicant Questionnaire
• Applicant Essay
• English Teacher Recommendation
• Math or Science Teacher Recommendation
• Transcripts and other school records

[Parents of homeschooled students should call the School to discuss how to complete teacher recommendations and transcripts.]

  • Admissions committee reviews application materials and schedules an interview.
  • Interview is conducted, as follows:

- Student interviews with members of the School Executive Committee (SEC) and/or other faculty (20 minutes)
- Student performs in selected art (5-10 minutes). This brief performance is an opportunity for the student to share a specific interest with faculty and may include playing an instrument, presenting a visual arts portfolio, singing, dancing, or delivering a memorized monologue or poem.
- Student writes essay while parents interview with panel of faculty (30 minutes)

[Total interview time will be approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours, with parents in attendance during the final 30 minutes.]

  • Renaissance School will notify parents of admissions decision.

Families requesting tuition assistance should apply through FACTS Grant & Aid Service as soon as enrollment is being considered since assistance is available on a first-come/first-serve basis.  Details are available on the  ”Tuition” page under Admissions menu above.

Renaissance School reserves the right to administer the Woodcock Johnson Achievement test.  Admissions staff will contact parents to schedule the test if they deem it necessary.
