Athletics
Athletics take on a unique flair at Renaissance School. Just as students are inspired to take on a lifelong pursuit of their education, they are also encouraged to make fitness and health a longterm life commitment. Renaissance goes the extra mile to support student athletics, customizing schedules so that students can compete at equestrian events, in fencing, on the ski slopes, in track and field, on the dance floor, or in community soccer leagues. Many student athletes have been drawn to the School because of its flexibility in supporting their athletic pursuits in the larger community.
Our outstanding location allows us to take advantage of excellent community resources and athletics are included in every “arts practicum” series of class electives. Classes have included swimming, climbing, fencing, and self-defense along with a standard offering of field or gym sports. Students enjoy being walking distance from parks, fields, and gyms, and have taken initiative to organize clubs for ultimate disc, flag football, volleyball, basketball, and outdoor and indoor soccer.
Starting in 2010, graduation requirements will include two years of athletics and students will be able to take advantage of some of the above-described offerings in order to complete these credits. Watch this page for further details and new programs.
