Why We’re Small

What makes Renaissance School unique? Why are social burdens few and far between? What accounts for the exceptional success of college admissions and scholarships for students who are both passionate about their dreams and proficient at articulating them? Every answer finds its source in our intentional small size. As the national trend has led to larger high schools, Renaissance has discovered that it is the small, intimate environment that brings out the best in many teenage students.

Small enough to hear your voice

At Renaissance, students are valued as the unique individuals they are. Students describe that they feel heard and respected and that their dreams are validated here. And each year, the majority pick “small size” as their favorite aspect of school.

Small enough to engage

Our outstanding instructors work together closely to integrate curricula, guiding students to discover vital connections across the disciplines. Students feel part of a vibrant and collaborative community of learners, and as such, become comfortable enough to take risks and dive into subjects that may previously have intimidated them.

Small enough to inspire

Students are motivated to take on the responsibility of inquiry and to pursue passions of the intellect.

HERE’S WHAT STUDENTS SAY:

When I first came to Renaissance I had no idea what I wanted to do. Now [as a junior] I have so many interests, it’s hard to choose.

The small size is what allowed me to really thrive…Renaissance School provided me with an environment more abundant with opportunity than I ever thought could exist in high school.
