“Arts Practicum” is Renaissancespeak for Friday afternoon electives. Students choose from a variety of classes that run in 3-5 week unit studies. Examples include art history, film critique, ballroom dancing, and a mock trial class. Students offer their own suggestions for classes and faculty often work together to create a unique interdisciplinary course. There’s always an athletic choice in the mix, such as swimming at ACAC, soccer, or ultimate frisbee. For the upcoming schedule, find the “Arts Practicum” graphic on the lower right side of any page.

One of the things we hope our website conveys is that students are “front and center” at Renaissance School. It is no accident that the pages are jampacked with pictures and the “Students” menu occupies an honored spot on the top menu bar.

At Renaissance you’ll find students engaged in “seminar style” classroom discussions, “teaching” math problems to fellow students, performing in impromptu music jams, rehearsing upcoming theater productions, on the sports field at Washington Park, outdoors in science classes, and working on artwork in the beautiful art space “loft” overlooking the downtown area….student life is vibrant!
