2010-11 SGA looks forward to an exciting year. The upcoming USO show on December 17th has left us busy planning everything from a silent auction to where exactly we’re going to make enough doughnuts to feed everyone who attends. Even as early as October we have seen a flurry of new club sign-ups and so founded the Renaissance GSA, Choral Ensemble, Debate Club, and a film critique group that will be up and running any week now. Many more clubs such as a KIVA and a Ski club are in the works. This year also marks a first in Renaissance SGA: a tie in the 10th grade election. When a recount issued the same number of votes per candidate it was decided that there would be two representatives, Kennedy Heidel and Jake Farrell. I feel I speak for everyone when I say how hard it is to believe that a quarter of the school year has already passed.

This year’s Student Government has two goals that we would like accomplish:

1. To bring the Renaissance community closer together
2. To put the Renaissance name out into the greater Charlottesville community

To accomplish these goals, we are going to organize school wide community service trips, student organized activities, and student run fundraisers. We are hoping to expand the spring musical into a fundraiser to help pay for the schools annual IT fund.
